With over a century of rugby experience and excellence, Wynberg Boys’ High School boasts not only one of the highest level schoolboy rugby teams in the country but also has had a significant impact on school rugby throughout South Africa.
Our learners have demonstrated excellence at the provincial and national levels, both in school and in professional capacities; several of our students have gone on to represent the country as Springboks.
Coaches & Teams
The Director of Rugby at Wynberg Boys’ High is Mr Craig Childs, with Mr Christopher Moore as Teacher in Charge. Our various rugby teams participate in a number of fixtures at various levels. The season officially kicks off at WP Schools Rugby Day, followed by a winter season of inter-school fixtures featuring the top rugby schools in the area. The students play both home and away games locally, as well as teams from further afield on tours and at Festivals. The Grey Weekend is a notable highlight of the year with up to 20 age-group sides competing annually.

Applications for Grade 8 in 2023 (both directly to Wynberg and via WCED online process) closed on Friday 26 March 2021.
Please remember that as well as submitting the Wynberg Application form with supporting documents to the school, applicants are required to complete the WCED online process as well:

- Birth Certificate with full ID Number and Photo
- Copy of your son’s last end of year report
- A handwritten letter from your son detailing why he would like to attend Wynberg.
- A letter from the parent as to why you would like your son to attend Wynberg.
- Proof of residence.
