Unizulu Vice Chancellor Resigns

Unizulu Vice Chancellor Resigns, the vice-chancellor of the University of Zululand, Fikile Mazibuko, has resigned with immediate effect.

The vice-chancellor of the University of Zululand, Fikile Mazibuko, has resigned, the University said.

“In her resignation letter addressed to the University Council, Prof Mazibuko stated that her resignation with immediate effect was so that she can pursue other interests,” the university said in a statement.

Mazibuko joined the University in February 2010, and had already indicated to council that she would not seek an extension of her term of office which was to come to an end in January next year.

Professor Xoliswa Mtose, the deputy vice chancellor for teaching and learning, would be the acting vice-chancellor until the position was filled.

Chairman of Council Cyril Gamede said that the council had deliberated greatly on the choice of acting vice-chancellor.

“The council has asked the staff to support Mtose in the new position.”
