Graduates function as production management technicians as a members of the production team, executing technical tasks. Graduates are also proficient in the identification and solution of industrial engineering problems.
Purpose and Rationale of the qualification
This qualification is intended for supervisors within an operations management environment. Persons achieving this qualification will be competent in supporting and applying operations management strategies and tools, systems and techniques in the manufacturing and service management environment. The person will be able to optimise the resource usage in a team to benefit the department concerned. The incumbent will be able to be a member of a management team.
Career Opportunities
The Production Manager is usually employed by manufacturing firms, but may also find employment in the service sector. Your training will enable you to manage a firm�s outputs i.e. Products and Services as well as production resources, i.e. manpower, machines, materials, information and money. Your main activities would include production planning, production budgeting, quality control, designing process methods and materials handling.
