Damelin School Of Banking And Insurance, It is essential that a Bookkeeper is able to work effectively on a computer. Learners must demonstrate this competence in basic business computing and a computerised accounting package.
This programme will include the completion of the monthly bookkeeping cycle on Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
This Programme is designed to prepare learners, who are competent in basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, for completing the ICB Computerised Bookkeeping Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) and summative assessment/exam.
This Programme is endorsed by the ICB and covers the outcomes of the unit standards required for the following:

  • FET Certificate: Bookkeeping (SAQA ID: 58376)
  • National Certificate: Small Business Financial management ( SAQA ID:48736)

Time you will spend on the course

The face-to-face tuition of 60 hours allocated for this programme are structured differently for each Damelin campus has a different tuition schedule. Programmes are offered during the week, in the evenings, or on Saturdays.

Course content and modules

Computerised Bookkeeping

  •  Basic PC concepts
  •  Working with Windows
  •  Working with the Internet and Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook
  •  Working with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  •  The monthly bookkeeping function on MS Office
  •  The monthly bookkeeping function on a computerised accounting package (PASTEL)

The strength in your qualification

Upon successful completion of the programme, ICB will issue learners with a Results Letter outlining the modules covered.
**Whenever Damelin offers training towards a programme that will be awarded by another provider or institute, it is called an Agent Programme. In the case of an Agent Programme, Damelin registers the learners, provides tuition and conducts internal assessments. External examinations with the agent body will result in learners receiving the certificate from them. 
 

Skills Programme in Introduction to Systems Analysis

Part Time | This is part of an accredited NQF programme, with MICT SETA, namely FET Certificate: Systems Development, SAQA ID 78965, Level 4, 165 credits | This Skills Programme is occupationally based and when successfully completed, will constitute credits towards the abovementioned qualification registered on the NQF.

This Skills Programme is designed for learners who would enjoy the Introduction to System Analysis. It would also expose learners to Web Development, troubleshooting and implementation of Web sites.

How to get in?

  • Foundational skills in English and Mathematics at NQF level 3/Grade 11 or equivalent
  • Ability to use a personal computer competently
  • Competence in the unit standard, “Participate in formal meetings”, NQF Level 2 (ID 14911), as
  • Completed in the learning programme
  • Approved CAT exemption (Grade 12)

Time you will spend on the course

The programme duration is 141 hours and the tuition is face-to-face based on the NQF notional hours. This excludes time to complete assignments, do research and self-study. Each Damelin campus has a different tuition schedule. Programmes are offered during the week, in the evenings, or on Saturdays.

The strength in your qualification

On successful completion of the programme and if the learner is found to be competent in the PoE, the learner will receive a Damelin letter of results outlining the outcomes covered and Damelin will apply to MICT SETA on behalf of the learner for the endorsement of competency against the outcomes covered together with the credits obtained.
