UNIVEN International Office, Internationalisation has become a high priority in contemporary South African higher education. UNIVEN has responded by establishing its International Relations Office in May 2010. Another milestone for internationalisation at UNIVEN has been achieved with the establishment of the Directorate of International Relations. Cornelius Hagenmeier was appointed as the new Director of International Relations on 1 July 2011.
The new Directorate advances the process of internationalisation at UNIVEN. UNIVEN conceives internationalisation as the process of integrating an international and intercultural dimension into the teaching, research, community engagement and service functions of the University. The core function of the new Directorate is to contribute to the expansion of international activities and to service international students and staff members of UNIVEN.
It collaborates with all stakeholders at UNIVEN to grow, nurture and develop international linkages, partnerships and related activities.
I serves as the secretariat of the reviewed Partnerships, Linkages and Internationalisation Committee of Senate. The new Directorate has contributed to developing an internationalisation strategy for UNIVEN through the revision of the strategic objective relating to Linkages, Partnerships and Internationalisation in UNIVEN’s Strategic Plan 2012 – 2016.
