UWC Occupational Therapy, the Department of Occupational Therapy is a leading academic entity in the provision of competent, reflective practitioners for comprehensive health care. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in occupational therapy, with a community-based approach to education and research. The Department has an active community engagement and outreach programme in the Western Cape.

Occupational therapists provide a wide range of services in diverse contexts. Examples of these are hospitals, clients’ homes, schools, places of work, communities, vocational rehabilitation centres, insurance companies and private practices.

A National Senior Certificate as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 4 (Adequate achievement, 50-59%) (33 UWC points and higher) or better in four subjects.

Admission RequirementsA four year Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent as approved by Senate. A minimum of three years’ work experience as an Occupational Therapist (at the discretion of the department) is recommended.
