Online Registration
In line with COVID-19 regulations, UP student registrations for the 2025 academic year are fully online.
Online registration opens on 4 January 2025 for current and postgraduate students.
New 2021 first year students will be able to register online from 1 March 2025 after they have been fully admitted.
The dedicated UP Registration Call Centre through telephone and email assistance will be available from 5 January 2025 until 12 March 2025.

You will not be able to register if you have not paid your initial registration fee or have not completed your online enrolment contract, printed it, signed and submitted it to UP.
Outstanding library material may also accrue charges that will prevent you from registering even if you paid your initial registration fees.

Initial Registration Fee
In order to facilitate registration, you are requested to make all initial payments (internet transfers or direct payments into the university’s bank account) at least FIVE days before the scheduled registration date to allow for processing time.
If you are a bursary holder, you are required to email a confirmation letter from your sponsor or bursar at least five days prior to registration. Please email the letter to [email protected], If this is not done, you will have to pay the initial fee before registration.
NSFAS-funded students need not pay the initial registration fee or submit any proof. As soon as your funding is confirmed by the authorities, the financial hold will be lifted and you will be able to register.
Citizens from countries other than South Africa (students who are not South African citizens)
All students who are not South African citizens are required to email us your proof of medical aid and study permit before registration. Please email the documents to [email protected].

Log in to UP Student Portal, click on the UP Student Centre link and check for holds in the right column of the student centre. If there are any holds, students will not be able to register. | |
First-year students, who are not sure about their curriculum, need to register for core modules only. Elective modules can be added after attending the orientation programme and curriculum advice. First years with fixed curricula can register their modules as they appear on the registration page. Current students are to register fully online from 4 January 2024. There is no fixed registration schedule for these students. |
