Admission Requirements
- Three-year, 360-credit Bachelor’s Degree or National Higher Diploma or Advanced Diploma, accredited by the CHE or from an accredited institution. Please also supply a copy of degree as well as transcript, indicating the symbol or percentage obtained for each module and indicating whether or not the qualification was completed.
- A recent Curriculum Vitae.
- Supply a clear copy of Identity Document or Passport. A copy of driver’s licence will NOT be accepted.
- If you are a sponsored student, include a letter from your sponsor indicating that they are responsible for your tuition fees.
- The Graduate School of Business Leadership may institute additional selection criteria as deemed necessary.

MBL – Master of Business Leadership
When there is competent leadership within organisations, those organisations thrive. The MBL provides professional management development at postgraduate level with particular emphasis on the theory as well as practice of leadership. The programme is geared towards developing the leadership qualities of managers and empowering them to become competent, confident leaders. The MBL gives you access to continue your studies towards a DBL, providing you meet the admission requirements of the DBL
Admission requirements and supporting documeants
- A Bachelor’s Honours Degree or a Postgraduate Diploma, with a minimum 120 credits, OR a 480-credit Bachelor’s Degree. Please supply a copy of your transcript, indicating the symbol or percentage obtained for each module and indicating whether or not the qualification was completed.
- Original documentary proof of at least five years’ managerial/professional work experience .This could include a letter from your employer on an official letterhead, indicating your period of service. Alternatively a certificate of service could be provided. Applicants operating their own business, should submit a statement from their auditor, accountant, attorney or partner.

MBA – Master of Business Administration
Applications for the 2021 intake are open from 15 September to 15 December 2020
An MBA is regarded by many as the ticket to the C-suite. After all you’d be hard-pressed to find a CEO who doesn’t have one. More than anything, an MBA is structured to turn a manager into a holistic leader capable of steering an organisation and its people to success. The MBA gives you access to continue your studies towards a DBL, providing you meet the admission requirements of the DBL.

DBL – Doctor of Business Leadership degree (NQF level 10)
Applications open 15 September and close 6 November for the 2021 intake
The more informed you are, the more empowered you are and the greater your chances of achieving success. Beyond gaining knowledge, DBL students are given the platform, skills and competence to make a significant contribution to new knowledge in business management and leadership.
Admission requirements and supporting documents
- An MBL, MBA or equivalent Master’s degree from an accredited tertiary institution (provide a clear copy of degree as well as transcript indicating the symbol or percentage obtained for each module and indicating that the qualification was completed)
- An average pass mark of 65% and above for the Master’s degree
- Submit a 2,500-word research outline fitting the research focus areas of the SBL displayed below
- Submit a recent Curriculum Vitae
- Submit a clear copy of ID or passport.
From 2020, first time Master’s and Doctoral candidates are required to submit a manuscript(s) for publication to a peer reviewed accredited journal as part of the thesis or dissertation phase. Colleges should notify prospective students of this requirement prior to registration. Acknowledgement of submission of manuscript (s) from the journal editor should be submitted to the College of Graduate Studies: Master’s and Doctoral Examination section by the supervisor. The submission of the manuscript(s) should be done before the final submission of the thesis or dissertation for external examination. The submitted manuscript(s) should be based on the research undertaken during Master’s and Doctoral studies; and should be deemed acceptable to the supervisor. Results will not be released until the submission of proof of acknowledgement by the Journal Editor is submitted by the supervisor.
a) In the case of:
i) a mini-dissertation, no manuscript is required
ii) a dissertation, one manuscript; and
iii) in the case of a thesis two manuscripts should be submitted for publication.
b) Candidates should play a role and/or major role (in formulating the ideas and the results) in writing the manuscript for publication. The candidate should be the first author in a co-authored manuscript.
