MBA
MBA is a two-year programme consisting of taught modules and a mini-dissertation. It encompasses the traditional managerial education elements and then goes beyond that to address issues of sustainability by exploring social and economic challenges facing organisations to find solutions for a sustainable future. Thus, leaders and/or managers are forced to be broader in their vision, to be inventive and realistic about their responsibilities, and conscious of their legacy in terms of environmental sustainability and the way business is conducted.

MBA Admission Requirements
- The main target for our MBA is executives in Public, Private and Entrepreneurial ventures.
- Admission into the programme is highly competitive based on academic achievement and strict evaluation;
- Highly motivated individuals who want to enrich their managerial knowledge and experience that can be recognised for admission into the programme;
- The following are the admission criteria:
- Honours degree, or Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent qualification at NQF level 8
- At least three years related managerial experience
- Matriculation mathematics or statistics
- A detailed CV
- Letter of support from the employer
- Candidates may also be required to undergo an assessment as deemed necessary by the Selection Committee of the School.
MDEV
The MDEV Programme is one of the three academic programmes in the Turfloop Graduate School (TGSL). It consists of 9 taught modules with 100 credits and a mini-dissertation report with 100 credits to total 200 credits for the whole course. The Master of Development (MDEV) degree is designed to enhance capacity for development management in both the public and private sectors including in non-government and civil society sectors. Thus, the degree offers a wide range of career choices in those sectors as Programme/Project Directors/Managers, Community Development Practitioners, Academics. The MDEV modules are intended to enhance a candidate’s theoretical and applied knowledge in critical areas which are relevant to the social and economic development of the country.
TARGET GROUP:
Persons involved in development efforts of various activities, leadership and potential leaders in the various sectors: NGO/CBO, public and business sectors, and persons keen on integrating their field of specialisation and interest towards development focus. The course is based on a block system and will be best suited for people in either full or part-time employment who can attend their blocks of course work while being able to use their workplace for projects. International candidates keen to learn from the developing world and willing to experience the challenge of further development are welcome to apply.
MDEV Admission Requirements
Application for admission to the MDEV (Planning and Management) Programme is subject to strict evaluation and selection is based on the candidate’s academic achievement, experience, attitude and motivation for further study.
Requirements:-
a) Honours degree or equivalent qualification
b) Relevant experience within a development management context will be an added advantage
c) Candidates are also required to submit:
- A detailed CV
- Letter from the employer confirming that they will be allowed to attend classes.
Masters of Public Administration
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) programme offers students a wealth of relevant knowledge and skills required for the developmental state in the African Continent. MPA is one of the three academic programmes for the Turfloop Graduate School of Leadership. It consists of nine modules making 100 credits and a mini-dissertation with 100 credits to make up 200 credits for the entire course. Candidates are encouraged to complete their qualification at the minimum period allowed of two years.
Our primary client focus is national, provincial and local government officials within South Africa and elsewhere on the continent. Candidates who are employed by international organisations such as African Union and United Nations bodies are also welcome. Classes are offered on a block release of one week a month to accommodate their work commitments.
This is a high impact postgraduate degree which is intended to ensure that candidates develop in their academic and professional environments. Their contribution and increasing capacity in their workplace should be noticeable upon completion of this qualification.

Requirements:-
- At least a Bachelor Honours Degree or equivalent in Public Administration or related field.
- Candidates are also required to submit a letter from their employer confirming their managerial experience and that they will be allowed to attend classes.
