University Of Johannesburg Fees 2018, tuition fees are determined yearly per module, except in the case of dissertations or thesis where fees are levied per semester per degree programme until such time as the dissertation or thesis is lodged in its final form at the faculty concerned.
Whilst the University continues to await government’s response to the Fee Commission of Inquiry into Higher Education and Training, the University, after consultation with the Student Representative Council and relevant stakeholders, has decided to maintain the status quo.
This means that also for 2018 academic year, the state will subsidise an 8% fee increase for those with joint family income below R600,000 (six hundred thousand rand) per annum. Students with joint family income above R600,000 per annum will pay an 8% fee increase. This would result in 86% of UJ students qualifying for a state subsidised fee increase of 8%. The increase will be applied on tuition and UJ owned residences only.
The students, including NSFAS, SASSA and Quintile 1 to 3, who were granted the 8% fee for 2017 increase will automatically be granted the 8% fee for 2018 increase. All first time entering students will be required to apply for the fee grant. Communication on the application process will follow.
