Is CPUT a Tvet College

Is CPUT a Tvet College,
A task team has been established between CPUT and local Technical and Vocational Education and Training Colleges to identify co-operative academic projects between the institutions.
The team’s task is to thrash out the identified areas such as the acceptance of college students with National Certificate Vocational (NCV) qualifications into the university, introduction of NCV Level 5 qualifications by colleges in conjunction with CPUT as well as work-integrated learning opportunities for college students.
The task team is also charged with the responsibility to unlock the necessary resources to finance the partnership’s activities.
The task team, which consists of various key stakeholders at the institution, was formed during a recent meeting on the Bellville Campus, with Prof Anthony Staak, DVC: Academic, Dr Chris Nhlapo, DVC: Technology, Partnerships and Innovation, and False Bay College Principal and CEO Cassie Kruger elected as conveners of the partnership.
The areas of co-operation were proposed by the college principals who expressed their enthusiasm to form a partnership with CPUT on pre-identified activities that may help their students to gain easier access to the university.
The deans explained the academic programmes offered in their faculties and hinted at some activities of possible co-operation with the colleges and their students.
Staak says the National Higher Certificate for all programmes should be supported as it guarantees college students access to study at the university.
He says that joint curriculum development will provide both the university and the colleges with an opportunity to learn about each other’s syllabi.
