Primary schools

The DSK has a main campus and a satellite campus. Our main campus (Grade 1 – 12) is situated in Tamboerskloof, Cape Town.
Our satellite campus is located in Tygerberg, a northern suburb of Cape Town, and offers primary school facilities (Grade 1 – 4) only.

Middle School

At the DSK, Grade 5 – 9 learners make up the Middle School. Only in Grade 5, can English speaking children with no prior knowledge of the German language, join the DSK, as we offer two streams, one for German speakers and one for English speakers from this stage on.

  • Our learners benefit from a diverse educational programme, with a number of subjects taught bilingually.
  • Languages are prominent at the DSK. In addition to the compulsory subjects German and English, we offer French, Afrikaans and Xhosa as foreign languages.
  • Learners of both streams are taught together in several subjects.

This, along with numerous extramurals and co-curricular activities, ensures that learners have many opportunities to interact with each other socially and academically. If you have any further queries, please contact Ms Silke Engberts

High School

A school leaving qualification is obtained once the final examinations in Grade 12 are successfully passed. Our high school prepares our learners for further education as well as for their chosen careers in a South African, German or international environment.

As a bilingual German school abroad, we are accountable to the examination authorities in South Africa as well as in Germany. The highest South African qualification, the National Senior Certificate (NSC) is examined by the Independent Examination Board (IEB), which is acknowledged nationally and internationally. The Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany, is responsible for the German International Abitur.

Our learners graduate with one of two double qualifications, depending on if they are in the German stream or English stream.
By the time they graduate, our learners are fully bilingual. Both streams offer qualifications which can open doors to international study options and careers.
