Fort Cox College of Agriculture and Forestry Programmes

Forestry

  • Fort Cox forestry department is one of the two academic departments in Fort Cox College Agriculture and Forestry. The department offers a dynamic academic three year general forestry diploma programme at NQF level 6.
  • The programme is accredited and recognized by Council on Higher education. It is our main aim to continue producing high quality graduates who are responsive to the current challenges facing the forestry industry.
  • Moreover, considering the afforestation programme approved for the Eastern Cape Province, our forestry department has a major role to play to capacitate future foresters who will sustain the afforestation programme. It is without reasonable doubt that fort cox is an institution of choice for studying forestry qualification.
  • Through our dedicated partnership with private companies in the industry that provides an integral opportunity of exposure to current and prospective students to attain various technical experiences in forest management.

Animal Production

  • Animal Production Department is one of the three academic departments in Fort Cox College of Agriculture and Forestry. The department offers a three year Diploma programme in Agriculture, Animal Production at NQF level 6. The programme is accredited and recognized by Council on Higher education.

Crop and Agri-Business

  • The Department of Animal Production offers diploma and advanced diploma programs on the biology and management of farm animals through a delivery method that combines teaching, research, and hands-on activities.
  • Our training and applied research focus on production aspects of farm animals (sheep and goats, dairy and beef cattle, poultry and, pigs) both under intensive and extensive systems. The training provides a strong foundation in animal nutrition, reproduction, genetics, and physiology, preparing students for careers in animal agriculture.
  • As an animal production student at Fort Cox, you will gain knowledge on the production efficiency, profitability, and well-being of dairy and beef cattle, sheep and goats, pigs, and poultry. You will further gain the necessary hands-on experience by working in the farm, participating in work-based learning, and becoming active members of the Animal club student organization.
