Dominican School for the Deaf provides in the oral-aural method rather than in the manual (sign) system of communication. The children are given the opportunity to learn to communicate in English, which will enable them to succeed in both tertiary education and in the workplace one day.
The oral-aural system of communication facilitates the easier transition to and from mainstream schools. It is also a modern and progressive, co-educational school providing an excellent standard of education from Grade R to Grade 12 on one campus in acoustically orientated buildings with high illumination levels.
The school has small classes with a maximum of 10 children in a class, allowing for individual attention, and offers Speech Therapy, free of charge to all Primary School learners, which is situated in the beautiful valley of Hout Bay near Cape Town.
