Damelin Graduation, Damelin, a leading private education provider in South Africa held its graduation ceremonies in April for the class of 2018.  The ceremonies took place consecutively in different venues across KwaZulu-Natal campuses, producing several top performers in the province.
Awarding thousands of hard working students their formal qualifications, the institution has been producing quality students for over 70 years.
The glitzy graduation ceremonies were momentous for the students and emotional for the parents who got to watch their children walk one step closer to their dream.

Damelin Overport, Durban City and Pietermaritzburg campuses kicked off their graduation season on a high note with perfectly curated evening ceremonies.
The Pietermaritzburg campus was the first to host their graduation at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall on Saturday, 1 April.
The campus produced 11 top performers, two of which were Summa Cum Laude high achievers:

  • Shaye Justin Ramklowen Summa Cum Laude
  • Thershanthe Pillay Summa Cum Laude,
  • Akshaye Sookhia
  • Kaylen Ryan Moodley
  • Shavanie Chetty
  • Lindeka Patience Madonda
  • Skhulu Zondi
  • Ntethelelo Mnembe

The following Merit Award recipients received trophies as a token for their hard work and exceptional performance:

  • Jerome Trivern Ramasray, Merit Awardee
  • Thershanthe Pillay, Merit Awardee
  • Clarissa Cherise Ramsuran, Merit Awardee

On Wednesday, 12 April, the Overport campus students graduated at Durban City Hall. These were their top performers, graduating Summa Cum Laude respectively:

  • Jasmine Haskins
  • Pinky Nonkululeko Mhlongo

Elated lecturer at Damelin Overport Miranda Govender said that she was pleased with the overall performance of their students.
“It was a successful event and I am proud of our students and our dedicated staff, especially the staff who worked hard to ensure that the ceremony was a success,” said Miranda.
To conclude the KZN graduations was Durban City Campus at Durban City Hall on Wednesday, 19 April. Their top achievers and merit awardees were:

  • Thaveshan Goundan
  • Zothile Zulu
  • Sebastian Appadu

Students were honoured with their well-earned qualifications, from faculties of Commerce, Leisure and Information Technology, Management Sciences and Communications, Business Management, School of Humanities and School of Engineering.
Zothile Zulu who studied Journalism and Media studies, currently working as a Layout Generator and DTP Designer at Likhanyile and Media was among the top performers. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and received a merit award, attributing her graduation to hard work.
“I learnt to be humble and work hard constantly in the three years I studied at Damelin. I pushed myself to achieve the best results and was mentored by my lecturers who encouraged me every day,” said Zothile.
General Manager for Durban City Campus Kenneth Masilela expressed his gratitude to his team and colleagues for the support and success.
“The graduation was very successful. It was a proud moment not only for us but for the parents and sponsors who sacrifice so much to ensure that their kids get the proper education. This is something we do not take for granted. Thanks to my team who worked exceptionally hard and tirelessly in making sure the event was a success. Big congratulations and best wishes to the stars of the night, the graduates, the class of 2018,” said Kenneth.
Damelin wishes all the graduates the best in their future endeavours and is certain they will perform exceptionally in the corporate world as they did during their time of study.
Damelin is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).
