VUT In Vanderbijlpark, VUT has its main campus in Vanderbijlpark with top of the range facilities set on a magnificent 4.5 hectares campus. Vut is one of the largest universities in South Africa with 5 campuses.

The Science and Technology Park is a new project that is an extention of the the main campus in Vanderbijlpark and turns the Educity, Sebokeng campus into the Southern Gauteng region’s innovation Hub.

The Vaal University is positioned in a high density industrial area that includes large petro-chemical, engineering and steel installations as well as manufacturing and telecommunications companies.

VUT is also surrounded by poor communities with disadvantaged backgrounds but receives students from 25 other countries and sees an intake of 21 000 each year.

History

1966: VUT was developed out of the Vaal Triangle College for Advanced Education in Vanderbijlpark 

1975: New buildings were added.

1978: Student had increased to 3 000 

1979: Name changed to Vaal Triangle Technikon

1987: Students at 6 000 and additions of new buildings

1999: Student numbers swelled to 15 000 

 2004, The Vaal University of Technology –launched and with the incorporation of the old Vista University campus in Sebokeng township which changed its name of Educity.
