The Fusion Cooking School

The Fusion Cooking School is a privately owned Chef School started and run by Chefs Shaun Smith and Caryn England.

Our Chef training is held at our new Musgrave campus on the Berea in Durban. Our corporate team building, evening lifestyle cooking classes, advanced training and specialized Research and Development (R&D) are all held at our Westville Campus.

We deliver world-class qualifications as a SACA recognized Training Provider, internationally accredited with City & Guilds of London as well as with the DHET QCTO. All our staff are all fully qualified, industry experienced, and Cathsseta-accredited Moderators, Facilitators and Assessors.

The Fusion Cooking School Courses

Full-Time Courses:

• International Cook Certificate Programme (6 months) includes 1 international qualification:
– City & Guilds Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking (level 1)

• International Cook Diploma Programme (18 months) NQF level 4 includes:
– City & Guilds Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking (level 1)
– City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation and Culinary Arts (level 2)

• International Grande Chef de Partie Programme (3 years) NQF level 5 includes:
– City & Guilds Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking (level 1)
– City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation and Culinary Arts (level 2)
– City & Guilds Diploma in Patisserie (level 2)
– City & Guilds Advanced Diploma in Cookery Supervision (level 3)

• Diploma in Patisserie (6 months) includes 1 international qualification:
– City & Guilds Diploma in Patisserie (level 2)

Part-Time Courses:

• Food Handler Certificate (4 months)

• Kitchen Hand Certificate in Food Preparation & Cooking (6 months) includes 1 international qualification:
– Highfield Certificate for Kitchen Assistants (level 2)

• Diploma in Patisserie (12 months) includes 1 international qualification:
– City & Guilds Diploma in Patisserie (level 2)

• Advanced Diploma in Global Cuisine (7 months) includes 1 international qualification:
– City & Guilds Advanced Diploma in Cookery Supervision (level 3)

• City & Guilds Skills Awards includes:
– City & Guilds Food Safety Certificate (2 days)
– City & Guilds Foundation Certificate (3 days)
– City & Guilds Proficiency Certificate (4 days)

2. Write a short Motivational Letter
3. Set up an interview
4. Bring along R200 application Fee, a certified copy of your ID book and highest school qualification
