North West University FC, below are the history about North West University football club. The doors are opened to all interested persons who wishes to join.
The Soccer Institute is based at the NWU’s Mafikeng Campus and currently has first, second and third-year students enrolled in its three-year programme. This programme has to be followed in tandem with a recognised academic course at the university.
Players from the Soccer Institute have participated at national and regional level, including as part of SA National under 20 and under 23 teams and in the Premier Soccer League and National First Division, Vodacom League and SAB Regional League. With the NWU Soccer Institute also having been crowned USSA Football Champions twice in the past, the institute is well on its way to moulding outstanding players, coaches and administrators for the future.
“Coming from a zero base, our players have achieved a lot in a short time,” says Rick van Rooyen, NWU Mafikeng Sports Manager. “We believe some of our players will go on to make a name for themselves at the highest level!”
