Nationwide Student Technology Programme (STP)
The University Of Pretoria has subscribed to the nationwide Student Technology Programme. This initiative offers registered students from Universities a chance to purchase laptops or tablets at discounted prices. This initiative manages to provide students with updated hardware and technologies throughout the year.
Students are able to select from a variety of models and manufacturers and can choose to add additional products or warranties to their purchase. All models supplied have been tested by the Universities subscribed to the initiative and are fully compatible with the network and wireless infrastructure of the University of Pretoria.
In addition to the discounted pricing on the various hardware models, all laptops purchased through the initiative are supplied with full software licenses for Microsoft Windows, as well as Microsoft Office. Students therefore receive further value by obtaining the software they need for their academic work, and are able to connect to the UP wireless infrastructure without having to install additional software or purchase upgrades for software already owned.
Products offered:
- Wide range of Android and Windows based tablets: Students can choose from Wi-Fi only devices to devices that include Wi-Fi and 3G capabilities.
- Value laptops: Basic hardware (For those who need to work on assignments in Microsoft Office, and do research on the Internet).
- Mid-range laptops: More improved hardware (For those who need to do basic work, as well as some more intensive graphics processing, computer code rendering, gaming)
- Top end laptops: High level hardware (For those who are serious about performance, multimedia rendering, high performance graphics and processing, or gaming.)
