Engineering and the Built Environment
The Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (EBE) has the highest number of endowed professorships or chairs at the University of the Witwatersrand, and is home to seven schools:

- Construction Economics and Management
- Electrical and Information Engineering

We maintain strong links with industry through student bursaries, scholarships and internships, and offer arange of programmes which include information engineering and biomedical engineering (within Electrical Engineering), and environmental engineering (within Civil Engineering).
Degrees in the Built Environment address the social, spatial and infrastructural needs of a transforming South Africa.

Faculty of Health Sciences
The Wits Faculty of Health Sciences remains a leading research hub on the continent and in the world and our research continues to impact directly on improving and saving the lives of people every day.
The Faculty and its associated entities and partners provide a vibrant environment within which some of the best research in the world is undertaken.
In partnership with the Gauteng Health Department, we employ over 800 medical and dental consultants who are involved in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates and in the research programmes. We graduate approximately 500 students each year.
Our students receive academic training and practical experience in five major hospitals in Johannesburg, the Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre as well as several clinics and rural hospitals in Gauteng. As part of the University of Witwatersrand’s academic teaching hospital complex, the role of the Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre is to assist clinicians with all aspects of their clinical research.

The Faculty of Humanities is one of the leading centres of study and research in the Arts, Social Sciences, Human and Community Development, Education and Literature, Language and Media in South Africa and Africa.
