UKZN GSB

Professor Martins is an Associate Professor at the GSB&L with a wealth of scholarly and academic experience in leadership, human resources management, communication science and business management gathered from working in diverse countries including China, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Middle East.  Professor Martins has held teaching positions at a number of Universities, including more recently the Gaziantep University (Turkey), Xi-an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and the University of South Wales (UK).She was appointed at UKZN in the Graduate School of Business and Leadership in August 2016.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science (UNISA), a Competent Manager Diploma from the Open University (UK) and a PhD (University of Fernando Pessoa, Portugal). In terms of research endeavours, Professor Martins was a member of the Research Centre for Population Economy and Society Studies based at the University of Porto, Portugal from 2003 to 2017 and the team leader in Wales of a 30 country Research Project ‘Meaning of Values Across Cultures’, from 2010 to 2015. Currently, she serves as an Integrated Member of CIP – Centre for Research in Psychology at Autonomous University of Lisbon (UAL) CIP – Centro de Investigação em Psicologia, Lisbon, Portugal.  She is also a DBA Thesis online supervisor at the University of Liverpool.
Professor Martins has served as a member of International Business School Suzhou’s Subcommittee for Evaluation of International Credentials in 2011 to 2013 and was a member of the University of Liverpool’s Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management and Ethnography Knowledge Platforms. She was also a member of the Faculty Research Programmes Committee in 2008 to 2011 and was Global Manager of the Internationalization Committee of the University of South Wales (UK). Her professional body and editorial body membership includes being a member of the Eurasia Business and Economics Society, the Institute of People Management (South Africa), the International Journal of e-Collaboration (IJeC) and the International Journal of Adult Vocational Education.  She is also a dedicated reviewer for various other International Scientific Journals.
